I was about to say you're in a class of your own...but then I remembered I trap beaver.

I backed up to a campfire once elk hunting, when my calves started getting warm I moved a step away, still hot so another step. I looked down and my pants were on fire and by this time my buddies were rolling on the ground. I watched my best friend ruin an expensive pair of boots drying them by the fire, There are many of us though most of us take better care of our feet.

Burned the soles off the most comfortable boots I ever owned, while drinking around a campfire in a Colorado elk camp many years ago. Darn I loved those boots.

Elk camp = good stories, always !

A friend and I were bear hunting in southeast Alaska, and while crossing a stream he flooded his Xtra-Tuff boots. Back at camp we got a good blaze going and he dumped water out of his boots, rolled them down, and placed them near the fire.

Dinner, a few cocktails, and more wood, we eventually crawled into the tent for the night.
Next morning we found 2 souls surrounded by melted rubber.
Bad part was, we where days away from our return to home, and all he had left was camp slippers!

^^^ Xtra Tuffs are not even remotely flame retardant, I lit up a pair on my feet once. I was welding and I had my pants stuffed in my boots (mistake) a big piece of slag got caught in the folds of my pants at the top of my boot, burned through my riggins and ended up inside my boot, which promptly became real hot. So now my pants get tucked over my boots when I weld.

I had to be close this winter to catching my jeans on fire after I backed up to the wood my butt was so hot I had to pull my jeans down to make sure they weren’t on fire and cool things off.
