I promised you "old" so here are the oldest I have and no, I did not catch the cats in the first 4 pictures. First one is from 1948 I believe the car is a '47.

This second pic is from 1931, trapper unknown but may be Joe Taylor my grandfather's trapping partner at that time.

1927 picture anyone know the make and model of this car?

My Grandfather, Ralph Space with 2 cats he shot in front of his hound in 1931. He told me that cats ran in a circle like a rabbit and would come back around in the same tracks each time. He would stand about 20 yards from the cat tracks and shoot them with a 22 Colt Woodsman pistol when they came by. I will say he was a really good pistol shot.

The next 2 pics are from the last year cats were legal in NJ. One of these was in the log pic yesterday. Background are the mink sheds, 49 of them.

Eric I remember thumbing through your photo albums at the state conventions over the years, always amazed me. If I remember was there a National Trappers Convention held on your farm? If so what year was that? Beemerville is so beautiful in the fall .

NTA convention was held at Space Farms in 1971 and 1976.

Awesome pictures, thank you for sharing. I'm curious, when did NJ make trapping bobcats illegal? And what was the method used to make it illegal?

In California trappings cats was banned in 2015 by the Fish and Game Commission, but you could still hunt them, just could not sell the hides. Then I think it was around 2019 or 2020 when bobcats were all out protected... Some of the best memories with my two older kids is from running the trap line. I'm glad I got a few pictures... I know my youngest would LOVE to run a line...

Were most of those cats caught in NJ? that one looks pretty compared with what we get here in pa. And what years did you get them? Curious as I used to live in NJ.....jk
