I have a beaver job now where one of the options is to attach snares to the boat dock pilings. I'm a bit concerned with beaver chewing on the pilings. Is this something that I should be wary of?

Thanks

You could rig your snare so that after getting caught the beaver wraps up on a tangle stake AWAY from the pilings.

Thats a great idea but it is about 5 feet of water.

How about using a drowner bag/heavy weight (like a brake drum) in deep water and rig your snare to it so it slides away from piling and towards bag.

Put the snare on a slide cable or rod away from the pilings. Live beaver will chew on them. Did a beaver job for a guy last year that tied a snare off to a pier piling and it chewed the piling in to.
Five foot of water is more than enough to drown a beaver but I use short snares with a drowning setup.

AND I have used an extension ladder before in deep water before...might be able to anchor your stake and tangle stake that way. Position ladder against dock and pound stake and anchor in any from ladder.
