This ol grey fox is in storage. Funny how bad I wanted to be good at it. Now I know it is out of my skill level but he’s still around and brings me happy memories!!

First thing I ever did was a grey squirrel and it was horrid. Found him on the road. This was way before trapping. Before I ever hunted anything. My interest in taxidermy ultimately led to trapping. Used to be very much against it all. One day I decided I better be part of the life/death cycle and challenge my mentality and emotions.

I’m still challenged mentally but not in the same way lol

Taxidermy is definitely an art form. No artist is good at first. Not everyone has great potential, but almost everyone can get better with training and practice. There's an infinite supply of worthless Pennsylvania furbearers to practice on.

If this was in the cloning thread I'd think it was a gar/fox hybrid

Most of my taxidermy I have done were deer heads. Did a few antelope also. I enjoy doing them but they do take a lot of time. Now its European mounts and antlers.

Sounds like you still have a hidden passion for it. We all started somewhere. You should try again, Look into your States Taxidermy Association. You could find a wealth of knowledge with the people there.
