I have not read where this would "stop" the sale of land, rather where the money from sales went. Here's just one I read that. https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/119-2025/s181We sure wouldn't want to do something constructive with money from a sale like pay down our deficit. Majority of that land can’t be developed so it’s not worth much. Do the math on all the federal land at a conservative price per acre. It wouldn’t touch the deficit. Danvee, I brought this up a while back and it’s a lost cause with these dudes. They want to be confined to whatever land their home is on and lose all hunting, fishing, and trapping rights forever. I’m not sure what you mean by can’t be developed, especially with the machinery dirt can be moved and cement poured to create houses or mining operations.

It's interesting that the conservative party is pushing for change. The selling off of public lands. I consider myself conservative, but my party left me along time ago. We have a great treasure in our public lands and when there gone there's no getting them back. Anyone can use them. Sell them of to pay of debt? That is just a band-aid to a problem that has been created by waste and greed. Agree to let our government sell land to corporations to pay of debt that our Government has created. Has any one heard of fascism, politicians and corporations working together to pad there pockets. Not a solution to pay of debt.

WY is a special place. Most of the west is already ruined so far as public land. I am 50/50 either way.

No Have you ever heard of communism? Communism and Property Ownership Under communism, the concept of property ownership is fundamentally different from that in capitalist societies. In a communist system, all property is theoretically owned collectively by the people, administered by a centralized government to create an equitable society.

You just described the US in a nutshell. If you look at the fact that the titled land that we own is still taxed. In a perfect world no one would own land. Try and not pay your taxes and se haw long you own land or try and stop from losing is thought eniment domain.

I suspect that the large private land tracts available are owned by a few families in each county that has large areas of federally owned land. I expect those few families would like to keep it that way.

What the h*** is wrong with these people wanted to sell off these lands. Hard to believe that upper mid-west and western state senators would want to have these lands sold. What are they thinking!!! Unreal!!!

Particularly problematic in the west, but lots of public ground in the east as well....Back in 1963 170,00 + acres between Kentucky & Barkley lakes were seized by the federal government, removing generational residents from their land.
Payed them chump change, dozed the hold-outs houses, and pretty much used every dirty tactic in the book to form the Land Between the Lakes national recreational area.
Fast forward to the 80's, and some well heeled business types and the same dirty government had plans to build a huge theme park like 6 Flags, and some other private businesses....The locals still livid about the land grab told them if they developed one square inch, they would burn the whole place to the ground. (and they certianly would have) ...Long story short, it never happened.
I tell you this because they can make all the plans they want, but the people ultimately decide what is acceptable.
Look up what they did to create the Smokey Mountains Park and Blue Ridge Parkway. And that was the second time they forced the people off the land. The cleared out the Cherokee to give it to the settlers then cleared out the descendants of the settlers.
