Well when I read the thread I knew I was as dumb as Vinke. But I thought if I'd be still no one would notice. In the early 80's in an ice storm and no electric for 4 days, early on I decided I'd better use the hot water while it was hot and took a shower. We had no way to blow the heat to the bathroom from the wood stove. So nearly froze and came running to the living room with nothin on but a towel and backed up to the wood stove. Dropped the towel to dry and and got blisters on both cheeks. My wife thought it was hilarious until she saw how bad it was then at least pretended to pity me. Marked that up to being young and dumb.
Now a few weeks ago we decided we needed a new refrigerator before the prices went up. So I go get one and it was too muddy to get it to the house so I put it on the tractor and parked it in the shed. Right before they was predicting the big rain, I thought we best get that thing to the house. So brought it up and it went thru the door just fine. Moved the old frig beside where the new one fit and replugged it in so she could take her time switching the contents. Next morning we decided to get that old frig out before the rain got here. I get it to the outside door and the handles won't go thru. Simple I would pull the hinges on the house door. Oops there is a Rem 1100 standing behind it. I tell the wife to get that gun out of there , so she stands it against the outside of the house and I quickly tell her not there, that if that gets knocked over it could kill one of us. So while I'm getting my fingers pinched in the door hinges she lays the gun on the ground behind the wood pile.
All goes well and I get the old frig down to the shop.
All is great until day before yesterday and I here a commotion out at the hen house. I grab for the shotgun on my way out and it not there. I yelled where is that gun. The wife yells, oh God its behind the wood pile. How many inches rained on it only God knows, my gauge don't hold that much. It was a little rusty and maybe being oiled before helped it, it clean up ok I guess. Good news was the roosters and hens were just frisky. The bad news is being young and dumb is much better than old and dumb. At least when you are young there is hope you'll get better, when your old its looking like its all down hill from here.
