I planted several Chinese Junipers along my driveway for a screen....supposedly "highly deer resistant"....LOL, nope!
first winter the sides got pruned back some. They're fenced off now and growing tall, but still kinda skinny....So...If I top the leader, will that force the side branches to grow out and thicken?

Yes, you can prune your junipers and now, while they are still partially dormant, is a great time to do so. Trip them back to just above a bud, with an angle cut, so the wound doesn't collect water and heals more easily.
