My wife won’t let me have chickens
I like to free range them and they destroy her flowers….

On a side note,,,,
We went out for breakfast after church and the menu had a sticker saying 50 cent sir charge on each egg…
I ordered halibut and chips…….

I want Bantams ! I seldom lose a normal chicken. But every Bantam I have owned ends up disappearing or dead.

I was just gonna say, it's been over an hour, how many are still alive? Lol

Birds of prey are very good at killing free range bantams, unless you keep good dogs with them.

The chicks pictured are safe in brooders, until they sell or are grown out. After the first 72 hours, there is almost never any mortality. Early mortality is usually caused from complications from pulling the egg yolk sack, through the navel. Early mortality is still usually less than 1%. Bantams live a really long time for me, unless I sell them. I usually sell old ones for Voodoo related magic. I have had some live to at least 8, before I sold them. The old hens stayed broody and I started lots of exotic pheasant eggs under them. They more than earned their keep.

I drag them home. They raise up fine !

Had a gorgeous black Silky rooster. He seemed near blind with all them feathers in his eyes. Came up missing !
My educated guess is the grandson give up chasing him and he didn’t get locked up when I was out of town.

Had some English Bantams ! When it came time to integrate them they slept in the outside run. Just vanished ! Not so much as a feather anywhere. Nothing ever defeated the run earlier or since !

Had a nice pair of Wyandotte Bantams. She was in the Coop and not 5 minutes later vanished. The Rooster adapted just fine. He was a protector though and gave his life trying to defend his haram against death from above ! Owl being my guess.
