Become a machinist. Made it 1 semester at Northern Maine Community College. Apartently hunting, drinking beer, and chasing the French girls wasn't a part of the curriculum.

College, farm, welding, farming is still going welding dried up and do cabinet work now.

I never really had a plan. my parents were loving, but very hands off never pushed me to do anything. Did many different jobs, mostly carpentry/trades related but tried security, grocery stuff, went to college for policing then realized that i would never want to do that. Did whatever carpentry for experience, was half happy and poor in the city because I had a great schedule. 4 days on 4 days off, took my inflatable kayak everywhere and kayaked camped fished. dreamed of hunting. had a kid young with a psycho (not to speak poorly of his mother, but no one here could possibly know her so no harm) which she remains to this day.

Somewhere along the way in my search for freedom of time & schedule as i have always felt trapped in what I thought was the city (I grew up in very rural area) I met a tomboy of a brunette. married and had more kiddos. Realized I wasn't just trying to get away from city, but from societal norms. love working, hate the 9-5 work till you die with a couple of weeks off and living for weekends. That's a real trap to me (not knocking anyone who does it, just not my thing) so sitting here typing this running a small carpentry business trying to figure out the highest paying jobs so I can work really hard for a week, and take 2 or 3 weeks off while lining up more jobs. Then I get to see my kids and wife, garden, do hand tool woodworking, fish, hunt, learn more about this trapping stuff that's taking over my brain.

Stlll would like homestead deep in the woods on a couple hundred acres of woods and waters. probably never going to happen with house prices now though unless I can grab some raw land cheap and quietly build on it.

I'm still trying to decide....nearly 50 yeas after the fact; trapper/prospector/ real estate investor/commercial fisherman/miner/philosopher......
These were my interests in high school, and still are.

Mine was to make it through Boot Camp at Parris Island, SC. July, August and September is no picnic and the sand fleas are not a joke.

My dad gave each of his six kids five acres of our original farm when I was 15 years old. I had become a little pessimistic about the state of world affairs and decided I wanted to learn the skills to live off the land. This lead to me heading off to Ag school in 1975. After Ag school I took over the farm operation, but feeling a little unfulfilled I decided I wanted to give back to the world and joined the Peace Corps. I was accepted in 1983 and ended up in Ecuador's Amazon basin working in agroforestry.

I still live on the five acres where I built a cabin and have been trapping since I was 15. Trapping was never recreation for me but necessary to make ends meet.

To not get killed in Nam. Three of the guys on my HS football team did. Went Navy. Forestry school after that.

My goal was to hunt, fish, trap and party as much as possible. I achieved it.

I had a little trouble in high-school, half way through my junior year the school decided I would be better off not coming to their school anymore so I moved to Oklahoma and lived with my aunt and uncle for the rest of my junior and senior year. After high-school I started falling timber during the week and drinking lots of beer on the weekend.
