I never pass up an old beaver lodge for mink sets. Especially bank lodges. Beaver bring mud from the stream to combine with their other lodge building material. Coming from the stream side they run out of mud before they get around to the back so there is little mud on the backside. Often there is a hole back there allowing a bank running mink to go in and then swim out or to swim into the lodge and then run out. If there is not a hole there, I make one and at least 1 more elseware in the lodge. Does not have to be a big hole, 3 inches or so is plenty big enough. Does not have to be real visible, a mink can sense the air currents coming thru. I always set multiple snares as you can not catch 2 mink with 1 snare. I catch most of my mink in February and early March but beaver lodge sets are great all season

Awesome! One of my greatest disappointments in my career trapping was to never live where I could snare mink!

Thank you, Eric!

One can snare mink in Wi as long as 1/2 of snare loop under water. It works fine!

Never thought of trapping mink in that kind of setting. Rather than a snare, I'd prefer using a 120. Nice photos!

More and more when I go anywhere I find myself keeping track of where the nearest rest room is.
