eric space OP trapper E Joined: Mar 2009 wantage n.j.	In 1985 my father bought a cabin in Pitkin, Colorado. In 1985 and 1986 I trapped marten and a few coyotes and cats for 10 days each year. Then Colorado closed the marten season I spent some time each day exploring the old gold mines. I used the rectangular cans for cubbies. This marten was caught in a #1 Newhouse longspring. Next day I caught the coyote pictured hanging by the cabin in the same trap. Coyote trail going to a hole in the fence around the trout hatchery in Pitkin, private land and I could not get permission to trap/snare it. All that was left of this cabin was the floor and the stove. Just for fun I cooked my supper on it one night. Whole thing was gone by 2000. Water trough that ran downhill from Pitkin for a mile or more to run a mill. This section was metal some sections were wood.

Marten bait was barn pigeons, Carmen's Canine Call for lure. Yes, killed them like I do a live mink. My father left the cabin to my nephew. So many new cabins are being built out there now. For "old" decor builders raid boards from the old mines and old cabin remains. I think that is where the floorboards and old stove in the picture went.
