Is anybody using a nail gun to board their beaver? Curious as to how it works for you and what you are using for a set up. Not interested in hearing about staplers.

I have used a Brad nailer. I attached a spacer to the bottom of gun with a little spike sticking out. I could grab the skin with the spike and pull the skin into position and then pull the trigger. Worked good but I’ve gone back to nails.

I switched to a brad nailer after the swelling went down on my thumb from using a hammer and nails. I used a pair of needle-nosed pliers to pull the hide in place while I nailed it with the gun. I held the gun about a 1/2 inch away from the board to shoot the brads so only about half of them went into the board. I used 1 1/2 inch brads. Made them easy to pull after the hide was dry.

I used to use a cable nailer, the arch top staples that don’t drive all the way in. Super fast to use even easier to pop afterward.

Key is to dial down the air pressure so the nails don’t go too deep, and to use a flat backing board that can take the nails cleanly. Some people even set up a soft backer like plywood over foam so the nail doesn’t bounce back or go crooked. Just make sure you’re placing the nails right along the edge of the hide

Lol....reminds me of a ADC call I got years ago.

Phone call came from a construction site where a new house was being built. House was framed out , but no sheathing or walls yet. There was a raccoon up in the ceiling rafters. It would not leave , workers wanted it gone so they could do their work.
Foreman was talking to me and like some people thought my services were free like the local animal control handing dogs.
As soon as he found out I charged for my services , he declined. Then he instructed his workers to deal with on their own.

Next thing I hear is a bunch of guys just opened up on it with nail guns.......

Poor raccoon. It left quickly....
