One day I'm ready to box my 12 year Olds ears for back talking his mom. Then a day like today I'm on cloud 9 thinking I must be doing something right.

Made a run to the feed/hardware store to pick up some map gas to light my bee smoker and pellets for the kids air gun. On the way in he walks over and started talking with an older man moving things around in the back of his suv making room for his several bags of feed on the cart. I thought he must know him he waved on so I went into the store. Later I found out he didn't know the old guy just noticed he looked like his back was bothering him the way he was walking to his suv and went over and loaded it for him.. Old fellow said he fell off a ladder and hurt his back recently.

Tonight I dropped him off at the baseball field to hang out with some friends and watch the games. He got in the van whan we picked him up and said dad you are going to be proud. I asked why. He said a guy around 20 had a bad alternator and could not figure out how to change it and was going to call someone and I said wait I can do that and removed and replace the guys alternator for him in the lot at the ball field. pretty cool I thought also sad when a 12 year old has to fix a 20 year Olds car but that's the world we live in.

Fingers crossed I may just be doing at least some things right after all.

Sounds like your son is a good one. Young ones will test the water. I know I did with my parents and I love them dearly. Persistence will pay off. Have a good one.

Yeah that age is funny. Had a conversation with The Boy when he was about that age, and after, I was thinking how mature he was getting. But a few minutes later I went in his room and he was licking a rock! Said he wanted to know what it tasted like. Kids are odd laugh

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

My kids are in their 50's now. Grew up on a farm, we always encouraged them to have chores , cared for animals . Had free use of the shop. My daughter is charge nurse at the local hospital , Son is cabinetmaker. They still like to come back to the farm , and get their hands dirty. It is how you raise them , that is important. Teach them how to do things, don;t baby them , too much . They will make you proud old243
