MN. has spent millions building bike trails ,Yesterday I seen a family of four riding on the shoulder of a ST. HWY. that had a bike trail running along side .Dont waste my tax dollars for the very few that might use them. And I live along side the trail and the only ones that get any use are inside the State Park. Some people walk the shoulder istead of the trail.

They built them here too, nobody uses them....A feel good measure to halt climate change or some such nonsense...

In Washington State too; but that figures.
What I don't understand is they use gas tax money to pay for them.
Why not require bikers to buy a bicycle license and use money from that?
Oh, that's right cars and their operators are bad, bicycles and their riders are the saviors of the planet.

FWIW, most/all trails in WI are heavily used, based on my observations.

Agreed. My family owns a small coffee shop/bike rental run out of the old train depot near Lake Geneva, booming business all summer long. The trails around Eau Claire County are always busy as well.

I used to live on an island with only one highway servicing it. There were lots of bikers during the summer months. The state added a bike lane many years ago. The problem is that the bikers want to ride right on the line that separates their lane from vehicle traffic. This practice puts them only inches from traffic and many times, vehicles have to stop when meeting an oncoming car because the bikers are not in the center of their lane. I spoke to a biker about this and he said there was gravel on the edge of their lane so he rode right against the panted line to avoid the gravel. Not sticking to the bike lane defeats the purpose of a designated lane and is dangerous to all.

That's true but nowhere I know of has a requirement for bikes to use the bike lane. Trails are one thing but I think many bike lanes are a waste of money. It can make bikers think they own the road when they are just another vechile.

We have some spots like that here. Most people stay on the trails and I convince myself the more people that are on these trails and user areas, the less people there will be where I am at.

That is all well and fine until one of them gets stuck between the duals on a truck.

I have nothing clever to put here.

The Fox River Trail in Green Bay runs 25 miles South. It too is busy from dawn to dusk year round. There are also several memorial walks / runs and marathons that make use of it. The highest use in Green Bay is for people walking / jogging. Great way to get people out in nature.

I get the trails and bike paths, but bike lanes on actual roads,, that take space from vehicle lanes, causing extra congestion is the problem...
