I wont be trolling. I wont be fishing any public water where I have to be around other folks. I fish private lakes with darn limited access. I am not buying a Texas Fishing lisence, and I do not want to have to deal with the idiot arse public. Where I fish, unless I look in a mirror, is see nary a soul. Exactly as I wish for it to be

I don’t know what I have. It’s old. Like me. My idea of flyrod fishing is with spider wire, and something that’ll handle a big brown or steelhead. Flies are out unless I’m flipping big streamers for largemouth bass or northern pike. For stream fishing, I use spawn bags, night crawlers or flatfish. As I said, I’m as old as my gear.

When I was into tying and using floating flies or nymphs, a 10-inch rainbow was a prize. Now I want fight, even if I don’t keep them. A 3-pound carp on a fly rod is a blast a 10-inch trout will never come close to.

Never too old to learn
