LOL! Don’t feel shorted, there was a time I couldn’t drink whiskey or scotch, hated the taste & burn! 20 some odd years ago, a friend that was a highly regarded local bartender taught me how to properly taste & enjoy drinking whiskey.

all of his sophisticated friends agreed it was great stuff.

I’ve got to relate to you when I had my 1st taste of Buffalo Trace bourbon. If you can remember, if you’re old enough when candy stores sold these little hard candies at Christmas-time. The candies had a little green Christmas tree in the center with a white candy around it all wrapped with a red candy. That is exactly what I thought of my 1st taste of Buffalo Trace bourbon and still do today! LOL

Now we’re talking by golly! Wild Turkey 101, a great cheaper whiskey that I rated higher than Buffalo Trace and many of the more expensive whiskeys!

Here’s my tip that was told to me now I’ll pass it on to those who have tried and can’t drink whiskey.
Only take a small sip in your mouth and let it lay on your tongue so that it sort of fills your mouth as it dilutes with your saliva. This is when the taste 1st starts to appear. After those few seconds swallow slowly and you’ll learn that the flavors will appear on the back of your tongue before going down your throat. It won’t take many sips and you’ll start to taste flavors that you couldn’t/hadn’t before but are there. Different flavors and different types of sweetnesses you’ll be able to distinguish in the back of your mouth before you swallow. Takes a little bit of practice but you may be surprised at where all the different flavors came from compared you your previous tastings!
