Can a person boil all bird virus, bacteria and parasites out of drinking water. I'm talking rain water off roof and prefer no chlorine. I realize I need charcoal filters to take out other pollutants such as contaminated dust from gravel roads and farmer spraying. How long would water need to be boiled for the bird droppings?

You are actually right on partly. Would just boiling coffee water in a electric percolator be long enough. I know the same bird that pooped on my roof today probably pooped in the lake your ginger ale came from yesterday, lol.

Theres a few bugs out that that can survive even prolonged boiling. Boiling for 30 minutes will take care of just about everything. 165-8 insta kills most bugs

Few things can survive boiling and they won't just be in plain rain water. I'd run the rainwater through a filter before it goes in your storage tank just to keep it clean. There are tons of rainwater collection systems you could probably read up on them.

I think standard boiling time for untreated water is recommended at 10 minutes but that's way longer than you really need. Assuming you get to a rolling boil you only need about a minute or two.

The virus can last 120 days in the right conditions (quarantine period) the 2 most common things that kill the virus are UV rays and dehydration of the virus. With the exception of geothermal wells I can’t think of an organism that could survive boiling. I’ve never heard of water ever being any kind of an issue with the bird flu call your state health dept or animal health board to make sure.

I think he worried about bird feces in the rainwater system.summer time it's probably not an issue as it can't live in 100+ degree temps for longer than a day according to the studies for h5n1

The big thing in bird feces is probably salmonella and yes boiling at a roilling boil for 2 minutes will kill almost everyone of the several hundred varieties os salmonella.
