I have progressive and I had state farm
state farm was just strait up dropping 2 of my cars

technically the progressive name is auto owners home owners insurance and their auto insurance is artisan and truckers. but names

I went through the independent broker that the daughter if my State farm agent works for , the state farm agent tried to appeal 3 times I had been insured with state farm for 30 years and it cost them a customer I never filed a home owners claim and had 2 small claims for my kids in auto , they are "modernizing" policies it started with WI last year , they just plane would not insure 2 of my cars any more

funny thing is 2 days after switching to Progressive , a State farm insured car rear ended the car state farm wouldn't insure any more and state farm got to fix it.

Yep, they always ask if it's your primary heat source....The correct answer is always no.

Did they ask you that or did you tell them ?
I know the insurance companies up here want to know if wood is your primary source or just a back up. It makes a big difference in the cost.
But if you avoided a 1000 dollar increase by changing companies, you're still ahead. But it would be nice to know up front
The one that rubs me wrong is my cabin by talkeetna I have to pay property taxes on. I see none of the benefits, I’m too far out. My access is maintained by yours truly, and if my cabin catches fire, I’ll be the only one putting it out. So I’m paying for people in wasilla to have plowed roads and emergency services, all I get is left alone (which is my primary goal, but I hate paying for stuff I’ll never get to use). My other cabin is in Edna Bay, where we have no taxes and no illusions that anyone but the coast guard is coming to help with anything | | |

my roof is 20 years old , but it is a 12/12 pitch with 30 or 35 year shingles , the new company would not cover my roof under the policy , fine , it is 20 years old , I am not looking for a free roof from an insurance company , when it is time I will just replace it.
seems like State farm is cutting their nose off to spite their face.
30 years I paid in so much more than they ever paid out I was a a sure thing money every month on time.

So is it cheaper if it’s your back up heat or is it cheaper if wood is your primary source?

Wood is our primary heat, at our house and cabin I think on both of them and it’s only like $40 extra a year
I believe we have American family

Our agent told us if he drives by and sees smoke, he will cancel our policy.
I told him if he sees smoke, our house is on fire.

We installed ground source 9 years ago, have zero negatives to say.

I still cut between 15-20 cord of would a year and sell. Just get to do it on my time schedule.!

So you got rid of a company that was going to add $1000 a year to your premium and now you're ringing your hands over $227?
That sounds like good business to me plus you kicked SF to the curb- even better I say.

Most insurance companies do have a surcharge for a wood stove. A wood stove is a no-no if it's in your garage. I don't know of any company that will insure you if that's the case.
If removing guns saves just one life it's worth it. Then if deporting illegals saves one life is that worth it?
