You got enough trappers in the area to get a fair price at a garage sale you think? It’s more of a specific item in my opinion, got to have a buyer looking for them. Trap shed or your state convention might be a better option.

I would recommend pricing them at where you think they’re worth, and if they don’t sell try another option like I mentioned above.

Good luck

I have some traps to sell and listed them on CL just because I am lazy and don't want to ship them. I have Victor #2 coils at $3 each and can't even get anyone to come and look at them.

I have nothing clever to put here.

It's a little more work, but you would be much better off selling that stuff at a convention.

I agree with this. I sold a bunch at one of our conventions. I kept the price fair and everything was in good useable shape. Takes more time but it was worth it.

To make the most money, you'll want to get them into a well advertised sportsman's auction. Very few yard salers are going to pay a premium price.

I have bought traps at garage sales

I would price them and try , you sell what you sell and you can sell the rest another way.

at a fair price to a trapper some person who thinks they are going to sell rusty traps as wall hangers might come buy up every long spring you have.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

As others have said - trapping convention would be a much better option. Your items have limited interest. Which will limit the number of people showing up. At a trapping convention, just about 100% of the attendees will be interested in your offering.

Oh does this take me back... PROBABLY 35 years ago my dad and I went to a garage sale for traps. there was 10-15?? guys there. when the clock hit 8 am the garage door went up and it was mayhem! Traps everywhere and 75% gone in minutes. I still remember some of the hodge podge of traps we got there.

I have sold a couple milk crates of traps at garage sales. Mostly conibears that I thought I would never use again due to the kids sports schedule.

Now I’m buying back the exact kind of trap for double or triple what I sold them for.

I bought several used traps at both the MO and IL conventions last year at what I considered a very fair price.

I would do both. You might be surprised. Sportsmen love to see a sports only garage sale so you might do better than you think. Fishing equipment, mounts, traps, ..... people will show up. Worst case scenario - traps don't sell so then pack them up and take them to a convention with all the other leftover goodies. Win -win

Around here, there’s the guys that are basically giving them away like scrap steel, then the guys that think they’re prohibited and selling them as collectibles for 4X the price.
If you really want to move them, price accordingly.

At a lot of garage sales, the people selling a trap or two have no idea what it's worth. Last year I was at a garage sale where the lady was selling a 1 1/2 rusty Victor LS with a price tag of $20 on it.

I thought about selling at a convention. But then I figured the miles I had to travel and then having to stay overnight in a motel or hotel and the cost of booth space I would have to sell 300 dollars with of stuff just to break even.

Yes we had one down the road several years ago they bought great money. People at yard sales want cheap stuff I’ve bought some 220 connibears at a yard sale a few years back for one dollar each

Tail gate at a convention. Sleep in truck or camp out.
Garage sales are bargin hunters paradise. Looking for something for nothing.
Real truth is with fur prices being down, not a whole lot of demand for traps, with a few exceptions.
