I’m hoping that you guys can help me figure this one out. I run a small weasel trapline every winter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Use mostly wooden rat traps. Bait is beaver scraps and other meats. At one set, next to the hollow log my trap was in was a white, almost perfectly square 6”x6” piece of cotton like material. No sign of any human activity around.
I couldn’t figure out what it was or how/why it was there, so I didn’t give it much more thought.
Fast forward to spring beaver trapping. On my way to set some beaver traps passing through the same area I came by a spot where previously was a weasel set and there next to where the weasel trap was….is a same square piece of that white material!!!!!!
Probably a couple hundred yards from the one I found during the winter. Again,no human or animal tracks around.
Anyone have any ideas??????
