Anyone use one and live?, lol
Any suggestions on brand?....This is what I'm thinking, lift stern of work skiff off trailer bunks high enough to get an extended paint roller under there to bottom paint. Boat is flat bottomed in the stern, We used to do that with a fork lift but no longer have access to one...Have used boat jack-stands in the past but those were stolen, and too expensive to replace for once a year for an hour.. .No longer going to lay on my back under a trailer to paint.....getting too old for that nonsense, grin

If anyone has another idea I haven't thought of I'm all ears.

Use the hi- lift here. They are made here locally. Can be a great tool, and they can also be dangerous if

I had one, it only went up so you just had to turn it sideways out from under whatever you jacked up. Fun times.

I have two and would be lost without one. That said, they can be more dangerous than an old 12 gauge double barrel.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I got the old trap clubhouse years ago for moving it a buddy delivered it on a stack mover rig to my yard. Poured the slab 13X40 then I moved the building with 2 of those jack using fence posts to line it up then place it on the slab I have a lot of respect for what they can do.

I’d never want to be around one when it blows up that would be ugly.

I used one to raise my workskiff up off trailer to work on trailer and weld the bottom.
Definitely use caution.

Hi Lift here. You don't understand how dangerous they are till they show u. Caught the handle on the jaw once. I can still feel a chip missing off the bone where it hit me. Never been hit that hard in my life. Only seem dangerous when u have a really heavy load on them or when your up real high. Got to keep the locking mechanism well lubed.

Obviously, you have never ran around with a Midwest farm girl before!

the problem with high lift is you are lifting from an edge because the pole is in the way also you have to do full clicks up and down

if you have a hydraulic floor jack lift with cribbing and a block of wood on the jack
lift just far enough to get the next piece of cribbing in place

smaller boat when I needed to access stuff and it was sitting on a trailer lift far enough to get some blocks in over the bunks

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

The advantage of the high lift is you can angle the lift to move things around that other jacks can move the same way. It’s slow but it’s doable.

I repainted the bottom of my 19' crabbing skiff using boat jacks to lift it off its trailer. Picked the skiff up maybe 6". After the bottom paint dried a few days I let the boat back down onto the carpet-covered runners, and drove to the boat ramp. When I launched the boat, it had stuck to the skid runners and floated the trailer. Had to take it back to the jacks and fillet the boat from the carpet.

Floor Jack and block of wood. 55 gallon drums make a fair boat stand to 3 point. Hi-lift would be my last choice for boat lifting.

Myself I would find something solid over head and hang a chain fall on it and use straps ran under the boat and lift it from above.

the boat is mobile so should be easy to find something high enough and strong enough to support it.

We call them handy-man jacks around here.
Handy as a pocket on a shirt

I've got one. They can be real handy. Some locals call them handyman jacks also. They are the ticket for jacking trailers up to change tires, etc. You can also use them with a couple chains or straps as come along in a pinch. They can be a bit of a pain to lower with a load, especially if not well lubed.
