Forgive me for thinking this, but reminds me of a souped up, street legal golf cart. But by all means, make it and offer it and see what happens.
But at the same time, don't limit the market. These guys don't need to reinvent the wheel. Just go back about 40 years to the small Japanese trucks from the 80's. Or the VW Rabbit pickup with diesel engine that got 50 mpg. Exact same trucks......no changes. In my mind, that is all a lot of guys (and girls) want...or need.
So if going to allow one, allow both. Let the market decide. Nailed it. 100% truth. Thanks for posting.

You make a fair point Kansas Savell has us all covered in the gay department.
I like your idea- Paxman isn't a man unless he submits a photo and joins in the roasting fun. Until then Ima assume he is Gretta the lil austic climate change girl.

Kinda funny how so many people complain about the cost size and complexity of vehicles and long for the days of when they could get something cheap and small. Agree except it's electric. If it had a small gas engine I'd be a lot more interested and so would many others here I think. And why do they never tell you how long it takes to charge the these things?
Eh...wot?

So if going to allow one, allow both. Let the market decide. I agree and the second article linked mentions this: The auto industry “has been so focused on autonomy and technology in the vehicle, it’s driven prices to a place that most Americans simply can’t afford,” So someone is hearing the complaints. If this thing was available with a small gas engine I bet there's be a lot more interest.
Eh...wot?

1,000# towing is a deal breaker, basically an electric UTV.... Have a friend who is a Chevy dealer. He said if you are going to tow anything with an electric vehicle, it will drastically cut your mileage down big time, especially in the winter. I don't see much of a future for an electric vehicle if you live in a colder climate. I think it would be a poor choice for a trapline truck when you're out in the middle of nowhere and need a charge.
More and more when I go anywhere I find myself keeping track of where the nearest rest room is.

But between emissions, safety test, and the chicken tax will not likely ever be offered in the US. When lawyers demand things adhere to their dreams is where it all starts and just snowballs from there. Toyota has a model that isn't available to the US market that most trappers would hop on with both feet.
