I've used lighted bobbers at night for crappie. It's a lot of fun.

Never used underwater lights.

Eh...wot?

Yes sir.
Used to do it quite a bit.
We did it in the hot summertime. Worked really well. That light really draws the minnows.

He didn’t ask if it was legal, just be truthful and answer the question.

It seems like it would work really well. I used to fish a dock where shad swam towards the lights at night. We hammered the white bass and walleye there in May and got lots of other fish too.

I did it once years ago down in TX. Lake Buchanan. I am sure it was legal. Caught a nice mess. Light was suspended just above the water.

Ice fisherman use often for smelt fishing on local lake.
2 holes in the ice one for light and sonar.

Light suspended just above the water draws the bugs, which draws the minnows, which draws the fish. Like a moth to the flame. The originals used something akin to a car headlight. If you go that route, DO NOT run the light off the outboard motor's starting battery. Don't ask how I know.

I knew a guy that used to fish off the jetty with a submerged headlight wired up to a car battery. He caught lots of ling cod, snapper and sea bass.

My starter battery is just that, nothing else gets hooked to that.

Does the brief flash made by underwater detonation count? Asking for a friend.
