Having a good harvest of asparagus recently. Absolutely ate up with asparagus beetle this year, lots of eggs and every other spear has a couple bugs on the head. Any remedies? Hate to spray a pyrethroid or chlorpyrifos product during harvest.

How’s your asparagus been? How late can you pick it in your area?

Sevin Dust kills asparagus beetles and was generally considered safe for anything with real lungs. Some people claim it causes cancer now. I use it on vegetables and just rinse them well first. I put it on my shoes and pants today, before I went mushroom hunting.

We have been lucky so far the struggle I’d keeping up with it but it’s tender. The wife fries it up with bacon chopped pieces it’s one of my favorites.

My favorite vegetable. I have more of a deer problem than asparagus beetles.
