This is the time of year where this guy can catch some lakers and I thought it would be nice to share some pics. Lakers on the fly is a special secret of mine not many are clued into up here. Spring time has the water cool enough and the strain Im after will be up shallow( sometimes sight fished) chasing bait. Trout can be caught whenever and Ill never hesitate to bonk 30” fish when I can

I fish a fly I tie called a clouser in a perch color about 4” long because thats usually whats in their belly. I find 20’ of water in likely spots and start fan casting drifting in and out of the zones. They dont fight that well, but my boys sure like em smoked so its a good way to put meat on the shelf. I can them after smoking and we can have a great snack all year long. They have become quite partial to mac mack. Macaroni and cheese with some mackinaw. Usually we just throw it on a bagel with some cream cheese. Anyway heres a few pics. Had my 85 yr old father along for some fun too. High score this year was a 33” [Linked Image]

good looking fish and a nice looking boat , what make and size is that?

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Boat is a welded lowe roughneck 1448 that i custom built out. Put a big clean front deck on, removed center seat fo an open floor, welded angles close to the center seat zone so i can interchangeably put a 2x12 in the back for another casting deck, or in the center when weighed down in duck season

Vinke, I detailed how to make my world famous mac mack in the first post. Not sure how many words you can read per night. Send me your wifes number and I’ll let her know

That is very cool. I may be mistaken but I THINK lakers spawn in the fall. I sure have never caught one on a fly rod but any trout or salmon smoked and canned is delicious. I just made a batch of grandma's secret recipe salmon dip a few days ago and it was as good as ever.

I have nothing clever to put here.
