JD Nichols OP trapper J Joined: Oct 2007 B.R.Falls Wisconsin	Today was the start of my Turkey season. I had my decoys out and was set up just before 5:00 this morning. At 5:15 I heard a Tom gobbling on the roost. Much to my surprise he was in the corn stubble about 200 yards away at 5:30. Strutting and gobbled like crazy. At 5:45 I had a hen behind my decoys and another hen behind me that was really talking. I mimicked every call she made and cut her off a couple times. She came right in and so did the other hen. The mouthy one was doing the hen display and ole Tom had all he could take. He came on a string and started strutting when he got between the hens. At 6:08 my season ended with a 30 yard shot. It sure is fun when it works out like that. 23 pounds, 9 1/2- inch beard, 1 1/8- inch spurs. "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways,totally worn out,shouting... Wow-What a ride!"
