Sent this season’s otter to Z&L back at the end of February. Leo turned it around in two months. Nice job, as usual. With shipping, less than $30. Took it to camp, the 2025 otter is hanging in the middle, the other two were from the previous two seasons. This year’s otter was definitely the biggest,( 22+# ) and much blacker. IMO, no other fur can compare to otter.

Here in Pa, we have a seven day season, limit of five traps. And you need to buy a $6.97 permit to set for them.

Those look nice. They look stiff. Is there blocking inside?

You gotta a good eye. Old small size wire coon stretcher inside each one.

If you want a full streched look without the wire you can wet down the leather side and stretch it leather out. Then just turn when dry.

Do the traps have tags that designate them as otter traps or is it outside beaver season? Just I don't understand how a warden would be able to tell, if you had beaver and otter sets on the same trapline, which is which.

Anyhow, great display!!

When I lived up north and trapped Pa, total traps were limited during the otter season.

When I lived up north and trapped Pa, total traps were limited during the otter season.

That’s correct. Only certain zones are open to trap otters. If you are otter ( or beaver trapping ) in an open zone, you are limited to five traps. And only two can be body gripping style. Add to this, the season is open the third week of February , the worst week of winter weather here in Pa. This past season, there was very little open water. That’s why the total otter take in Pa is between 100 and 200 critters. You gotta do some scouting to try to score in a seven day check.

I didn’t measure it after it was tanned. It was 60.5 inches on the board.
