Has anyone mixed ground horse and ground bobcat meat for bait? Thinking of adding some fresh ground bobcat to some tainted horse meat and was wondering what others have experienced when tried. I’ll also be adding a few other things but my focus is on the meat for now.

I've done real well on LIGHTLY tainted horse meat, plain, no additives. Has little attraction to livestock or deer.

I've tested both a bunch and personally just use the better one. Only good thing I see about bobcat is it gets a pretty strong twang to it that will reach and carry when heavily aged. So if I was going to mix them it would be the other way around and would be adding the bobcat to make the formulation have more push.

Dull Knife, I'm not a fan of Fresh bobcat meat compared to other fresh types of meat such as beaver or deer meat etc.

However, I do like Bobcat Meat that has been aged long and slow at moderate temperatures.

Generally speaking I like to mix in smaller amounts of different meat types to the primary base material. Something like adding a cup of cultured eggs to a gallon of horse meat etc. Sun rendered oils are good also. Just my 2 cents!!

I use to keep my ingredients simple. I wouldnt add good cat meat to horse meat.

I see you are in Wyoming,,, and sometimes aged /rotten baits and lures tend to be more effective in the west.

Horse is and cats both make great baits. I wouldn't mix them. and I would barely taint them if using them early season.. I think it was Ardell Grawe who told me, too many make bait making complicated.
Years back I use to sell a "bait makers blend,,, labeled under ,a few different names. sold thousands of 1 oz and 12 oz. bottles. A 50/50 mix of propylene glycol and Glycerin. and either beaver castor , or mink gland added.

Ground meat, let your meat slightly taint and stop the taint by adding the mixture.

Or add a small amount of baitmaker or salt to slow the taint until the smell is stronger then stop it.

So you could make 4 baits, Two with cat, two with horse, A cat and horse with light taint and a cat and horse with a more potent odor

I don't know about too complicated but I do know you can never make one too attractive.
I think it was Jim Bridger that told me that.
