Black Talon ammo I like. Used to carry that as our duty ammo in the Glock .40s. That’s some old ammo, last made what? 25 years ago. I’m a big fan of Speer Gold Dot.

Swamp, I've had people tell me is there better ammo available. Maybe so. The black talons work. I've seen what they do. So, I like you. Used to carry it on duty. Then the higher ups were worried about over penetration and issued Hornady Critical duty ammo, which would take several shots to dispatch a wounded deer on the side of the road. Garbage. That's way my trusty 12 with 00 buck worked just fine for incidents I mentioned above.

Come on Sarge you don't need all that firepower to dispatch a snake. My grandma, God rest her soul, would have used a garden hoe. Hahahaaa same thing I was thinking. Glock dudes are different,,,,,the real test is? Did you lighten your trigger pull ?

DR. Your right. Oldie but goodie. I secured enough to last my lifetime. I too like the gold dot. The shooting I was involved in 2019 was with gold dots in .45acp. Only took one round to end that disagreement. He survived , but he has a quarter century in a jumpsuit to think about why he was shot. Plus the scar he'll carry the rest of his life.

Sarge Heck yeah. Glad you have plenty to last you. Also glad you came out on the right side of the “disagreement”.

[quote=trapperkeck A fella can never O-D on the smell of burned gunpowder. I've tried and still try. My backyard I turned into my personal range. Neighbors don't mind. They shoot as well. Just not as much. I guess that's way we have no issues around this area. I shoot until September and stop. Let it cool down and wait for the deer to show up and harvest one or two off the back porch while enjoying my coffee. Sarge

White Marlin, no time to switch out mags. Use what's on hand. But your right. FMJ would've worked just fine.

Out in my backyard with the dog. When I encountered a large, nearly 3 feet long copperhead. After securing the dog in the house. I went back out and there it was ready for business. Couple quick shots with the glock with black talons and it was over. Gosh that could have been bad for the dog or myself. Been a long time since I've seen one in my yard. So now on. I'll be a little more edgy when out in the yard. And yes, my Glock will be on my side.

a friend of mine grew up in WV said they always had a little yippy dog and a 410 by the back door
dog got let out every morning and it walked the perimeter of the mowed portion of their yard and would start yapping if there was a snake they would go out with the 410 and take care of it.
he could not remember a time that yippy dog ever got bit , but it was a good snake mut

GCP. My blue heeler was biten on the nose by one in the same area in backyard back in 2012 or 13. Very expensive vet bill. She swelled up (her head and neck) that her breathing was labored. That I was going to lose her. I did lose her about 15 months ago, but from old age. I keep my yard clean, but I'm surrounded by woods. So, I imagine they do pass through at times. But it's been years since I've seen one in the yard. I normally get rat snakes and such. I leave those alone. But poisonous must go. Sarge
