I’m a Husky guy, but anyone running a 500i knows his stuff. Nice saw!

It’s all I run, they take good care of me. If you register enough new stihl products in your name, they notice. They sent me a 500i to demo in early 2019 before they released them. Same with the 462’s

How does the 500 compare to the 460/461? 660/661?

That's about when they sent me one to demo. The first 2 I bought, after that initial one, only lasted a couple jobs before they were spotted by two different tree services that begged until I gave in and sold them the saws.

I was looking at one today at a local Stihl dealer, the price was $1695

I have 3 of them, the 261 and 500i are the best saws ever produced in my opinion.

I second the question of comparing them to the 66o/661. I've never ran or been around someone running a 500I. I've heard they are not as easy to hop up as the older saws, but don't know if that is true or not.

Are you getting hot saws from Madsen's or stock saws? I've never ran one of theirs.

I usually have madsens send them to Jason Egan, and have him build them for me, but madsens ported this one. I just opened the box a few minutes ago, so not sure how it compares yet.

Ha. Jason lives about five miles from me. And I grew up over by Madsen's. I remember when they were just a little hole in the wall and the store was in an old house, a small house.

This is number…I’m not actually sure, I’d have to look back through my folder of receipts from the past several years, but I want to say it’s my 7th one. But I only run a powerhead 1 year then it goes in the shed as a backup/parts saw. And I’ve been known to double down and buy 2 of things at a time. I like redundancy.

How come nothing is in English?

I have my share of 661’s and I now have 2 of the 462’s, but the 500’s are hard to beat. They don’t have the snort that a 661 does in the bottom end, but they’ll spin a chain at warp speed if it’s sharp
