I’m new to the suppressor world, but after doing a little research, I think I’m ready to dive in. For starts, I’ll have to just buy one to move around on a few guns. The calibers I’d like to use one on ( mostly ) are .300 wsm, .300 winmag, 6.5 PRC, .308 and would like to try it on .22 mag.

I’m looking at the 30 Banish v2

Question, does a suppressor change the point of impact ? Or can I take it on and off with the same zero?

Also, what other suppressor do you recommend for the calibers mentioned?

Thanks

It will change POI. How much will vary on a lot of factors I’m not gonna type out, but it should be fairly close (still on paper to re zero at 36 yards)

Silencer Central in SD has had a buy one get one with it that looks like it’s for a .22 check with them.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

JoMiBru, it starts with one, then you get tired of moving it between hosts. Next thing you know it’s a dedicated can/host show.

The Banish 30 is a very good one, as is the Scythe Ti. The Diligent Defense Enticer’s are hard to beat for their price point.

I got a banish 30 gold last year and brakes to put it on several guns.

if you're buying from them, here's how you do it:
1) come up with a question to text the contact number. You'll get a sales guy assigned to you. Mine wasn't high pressre, but was very attentive.
2) once you've started the fliting, ask him how much of a discount he can get you and play hard to get.
3) slow walk it. You're in no hurry.

My guy offered extra covers and stuff like that I don't care about. Eventually he said there isn't much he can do on a single suppressor, but can do big discounts on two.
I got him to throw in the $500 100% titanium 22 suppressor for around $180 (plus tax stamp)
I use the 22 suppressor all the time and love it.
I've seen bad reviews on the free 22 suppressor they throw in with big suppressor purchase, so I would avoid that one. But their good 22 suppressor is amazing.

So my advice is: get the 30 cal because you think you need and you'll probably realy like it. But get the 22 because you'll use it all the time.

They change zero most of the time but it's repeatable typically.

once you start shooting suppressed you won't shoot with out them if you have a choice. I 2nd the .22 can as well. easily my most used can followed by my .30 cal.

Get a .22 mag and check what other cals it does. I know some (if not most) do 22LR / 22 mag combos. Like .204 might be compatible too? .223 even I think maybe? Point being you can plan ahead and a couple cans can work for say half a dozen diff barrels.

Also know the more quiet the ammo the more quiet the can. i.e. Full power .22LR will cycle fine and be more quiet. 22 subsonic will be even more quiet. Some subsonics are louder than others. I like them to barely work the action if at all. = quiet.

I think there is more zero variation in changing from shell to shell with those than there would be from can to no can but its all a variable in the equation for sure.

Do your research and don’t chase decibels (it will never be hollywood quiet). I have not shot the banish but everyone likes them and I haven’t heard a lot of negatives about them.
I’m guessing most of your shooting will be with a bolt gun?
You will be adding length, so if tight brush is an issue take that into consideration.
I have shot the rugged razor, sandman, Hyperion, and hybrid 46.
I settled on the CGS Hyperion for weight and sound ( dedicated 300 blackout can).
If time permits I will be playing with a TBAC ultra 9 and see how that compares with the CGS.

Pew science is a good spot to check out for in depth research, I believe they are still active in testing.

If you are going to be slinging a lot of lead, then disregard my input, buy a can rated for full auto that has a lifetime warranty.

.22LR with the right subsonic is indeed Hollywood quiet. Just realize the velocity / FPS isn't there. Fine for dispatch, squirrels, etc. Hopped up pellet gun w/ .22 type grain lead.

You will like the suppressor but will need to get used to the length of the barrel. With the calibers you mentioned you might want to look at GunWerks and Thunderbeast. Both made in WY and both built for long distance shooting. I went with Thunderbeast. Their customer service is outstanding, before you buy and after. Titanium makes a difference on long guns. A little more money, you will not be disapointed. Your accuracy will improve. You guns will not be quite, but they should be quite enough not to hurt your ears when shooting. It is seldom I wear ears.

A 30 cal supperssor can be made to work on a .22lr but its a pain. There big, you will most likly have to redo your sights. A .22 can is made for .22 rifles and handguns and works great. I have a CZ 457 and it is quiter with the supperssor than my FX - impact 30 cal pellet rifle with an air rifle suppressor.

I put one on my STW and it changed point of impact about 8" at 200 yards. And it caused pressure signs (sticky extraction, slightly cratered primers) with one of the loads I had previously worked up for that rifle. No pressure signs with a load worked up with a different powder, but this is something to be aware of.

As stated the length and muzzle weight are something you must get used to. And would be a nogo for me in a brush gun

I just got a Banish 30 through Silencer Central, very easy to work with and they picked up the cost of the tax stamp

Out of my 4" pistol, all 22LR I've tried is subsonic and hollywood quiet.
Out of my 10" 10/22 charger, the big box bulk stuff is supersonic. But CCI standard velocity stays subsonic in my 10". It advertises 100-200 fps slower than bulk ammo but does not claim to be subsonic. Its also cheaper than the 22lr adveritised as subsonic. A 10/22 charger with an arm brace and a suppressor is a very nice short little rifle-like (but legally pistol) configuration
