Wife helped the boys with a business page and are picking up more yard work. Today I showed them use their head. The newborn to one of their jobs had long grass. They were a little shy of knocking on the door sh I showed them how and they picked up that yard also while we were there.

They also bid a horse farm to wees eat all along their fence, building and arena before the show on Friday. They only have my sthil changeable head weed eater and will need to to get done in Time I think. I looked at them today and am leaning toward a Husky pro model that's about $389 from the local Amish shop . it's comparable in price to the echo and sthil but I think the service would be better and I like the steel shield it had on the bottom protecting the fuel tank. But anyone have any suggestions or reasion to go with something else?

Stinks to need to buy a 2nd weed eater when they could use another mower more often and can normally get buy well with a single weed eater. They pricer the job at $240 so it won't fully cover the cost and it's not likely they will get a lot of large mainly weed eating jobs I don't think but I could be wrong.

Sure is nice to see them geting with it and hustling making money.

Echo is by far the most popular with the local lawn services.

Stihl combi system, add a hedger and start bidding the bushes while they're at it. Hedge trimming can be really decent $, especially if it out of reach of the lawn Jockys

Aside from the weed eater, the Echo timberwolf chainsaw is a pretty good machine .

I have one of these bought it 8 years ago to start as a pole saw cleaning fence lines so got the largest power head offered. later picked up a weed eater head and is what they have been using now. Typically only need one of them on a job though. One rune a mowere while the other weed eats then runs a mower.

I looked at blower and hedg trimmer attachments for it today. I think I would rather just have a blower than that awkward blowere attachment. The long and adjustable hedge trimmer looked very nice especially if you need to trim tall bushes and use the extintion. But I still think a gas powered dedicated hedge trimmer may be more comfortable to use on standard height trimming. Then again I didn't like the hydraulic pole saw that rounds off a bucket truck when I first started using it mostly because of the weight. I guess i got used to it because the 2nd line clearance company didn't have them and I really realized how nice it was having all the extra reach vs having to move the bucket within saw reach for every cut. It's so much faster and that pole saw real crazy fast and never hardly needed sharpened becuese it never hit dirt or dirty wood. So knowing that I expect after geting used to the hedge trimmer attachment the ease of trimming with ability for more reach would become very nice once you got used to the weight.

One negative about geting the biggest power head offered is it makes for a heavy weed eater.

I did look at battery weed eaters and think they would be very nice to use being light and quiet. Amish guy had a battery back pack he said will give you 12 hrs of run time for the low cost of $1200 and has a 2 year warranty. But with the weed eater part would be around $1600 for it and I'm not spending that.

I'm fond of echo weed eaters but not of the local dealer. Guy tried to tell me a.stamped deck on zero turn was was a benefit to his jd zero turn over the heavy welded steel decks on grasshoppers, and scags claiming it was a failure point on the weld Guess he doesn't know the weld is stronger than the steel it's connecting. He also said running 100 octane aviation gas burns holes in the top of chain saw pistons. Sure it does that's why I'm using an 18 year old saw that's only ran av gas the last 8 years Typically run about 15 gal through it a year cutting fire wood.

he lost me at that point.

Amish here use lots of gas tools

they are not allowed to drive cars or have electric because it can't easily be measured like gas or oil and they would need credit because you use it and pay the bill at the end of the month.

but around here with big rectangular bails and round bails being the norm many of them have skid steer loaders
they have large walk behind commercial mowers

they used to have a circular saw attachment for home lite chainsaw power heads , those were popular with the Amish , now they are mostly on battery powered tools with solar panels and chargers around here.
the men also have flip phones owned by the business it gets charged in the barn with the tools not allowed in the house.

the Amish furniture factories have big diesel air compressors and hydraulic pumps , they will buy a Powermatic table saw without a motor and then put a hydraulic motor in it and use tractor type connections to the hard lines on the wall in the shops
air sanders , air drills , air nailers , just not electric

there are a few old order that are hard core but , most of those old bishops passed and the younger ones said , sure battery tools make us more competitive in the construction market
in many places the church can own the truck and the English driver is hired to drive it and it pulls a 5th wheel trailer full of tools and materials

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I own a 232 r husky weedeater and it's a monster that I've abused for quite some time now and the folks I bought it from used it at their tree farm so it never had a easy life . In other words get the biggest weedeater you cab afford that also has a harness which will help save your back .

You're friend along the snare line .

There was an Amish owned, Electric Bike store near the Amish farm I went to yesterday. They are having the second annual, huge E-bike auction at the Amish run Mt. Hope, Ohio auction this week too. It's still weird seeing Amish people zipping along on E-bikes, charged with solar panels, but it's becoming common. Solar powered, electric golf carts are being used by the Amish too.

One thing I would caution about the combination weed eaters is that the eventually they connection point gets stripped out so one day you turn the thing on, the head doesnt turn.

Had a Ryobi years ago that took straight gas, loved that. It was a combination trimmer that suffered the aformentioned stripped drive issue.

For heavy duty weedeating, ive always had good luck with the big Stihls.

String! I've had much better luck with the braided type strings vs the typical string. They hold up a lot better. Hate the plastic blade heads unless youre just puttering about in the yard. One little chip on the blades causes the head to unbalance and it makes the whole machine vibrate like crazy so you have to change the blades.

Buy a straight shaft Stihl. They can be bought from the local pawn shops for $100-150. I have 3 that have been running for the past 10 years. I keep one at my house and each of my boys has one at their house.

Ryobi electric - also allows for other attachments. Have had mine for 2 years now. Have added the brushcutter and leaf blower.
Lots of power, good battery life.
Here is the link from home depot. If you are a veteran - you will also get another 10 percent off.
