Includes processing. Bought a half beef. My scale says right at 250 pounds of beef. Could be off ten pounds one way or the other. Total price was 1475. Aged in a cooler for two weeks. Better quality than grocery store beef. I think its a bargain?

Just like 8 dollar corn. There's a day of reckoning coming. It's fun while it lasts.

Our beef goes to the butcher at the end of the month. $3.35/lb on the rail. Processing expect to be around $1-1.25/lb.

So pretty close to your numbers.

We are carrying over about 60lbs of hamburger and several roast from last year.

$4.29/# hanging weight including processing is what my place charges. It's a bargain and you're likely getting better meat.

My hay guy told me last time he broke down what his customers paid pre pound after processing it was 3.65lb.

I didn't weigh mine and see what I got back and divide it out so I'm just going on what he said but yes I believe it's a bargain.

If families eat much meat they will buy and have freezer space it the best way to buy beef. I think a lot of people are limited on freezer space and few are willing to spend 3 k or so up front for the savings and opt to spend more in the long run. A lot of people don't have the cash and other that may don't want to drop it.

I know alot of people that don't know you can deep freeze food for a long time. They'd be throwing everything out in a month. They don't understand having a cow in a freezer and eating on in for a year +.

They really dont understand buying meat that is going to expire soon at the grocery and throwing it in the freezer and eating it months later either.

Not everyone grew up like us.

buying hanging is not an option here, by the time and cost of traveling to pick up where it's possible it's not worth it....quality not withstanding, and even that isn't a guarantee, it's possible with careful shopping of sales to get the cuts you want at a decent price.
