Has the chicken rush subsided a bit? Yes. The rush here has subsided but I don't think I can go wrong at .50 each. I've got a day a week work lined up to pay for my feed.lol

There's usually a few roosters in a bunch like that. So you'll have some chicken dinners also.

you did great I would have bought them all as well. I love geting them.whrh the are getin big and they mark them down. Often they are fully feathers and can go outside and it's a few less weeks of feed cost and cleaning uo after them when they are not as small. Win win in my book.

Has the chicken rush subsided a bit? At least in Ohio, the high demand for chickens and quail to produce eggs has died hard. Cheap and even free chickens are readily available now, as are quail. Many of the new keepers have decided keeping layers is smelly and too much work. The market is currently very flooded. I went from selling out every week to not selling much at all the last 3 weeks. This was by far the slowest weekend of the year for chick sales for us. Keith

They told me they sell out within 2 hours of receiving them. I checked yesterday... all they had were a few ducks. Guess I'll have to pull out the ol incubator.
Proudly banned from the NTA.
Bother me tomorrow. Today I'll buy no sorrows.

These are feathered out. They went straight into my outside chick pens..no changing paper.
I'll sell a few now as chick's and raise most out.
The came to 53.00 and.some.change..I was gonna buy 40 for 40 so I thought 13 more for an extra 59 chicks was a steal.lol
I have had no death loss as of yet
Our tractor supply and the feed store had chick's that were feathered out to the other day.
We're on the way now to our local livestock sale barn. They're having a caged animal sale today .which usually is poultry and rabbits.
Well see what we can buy

I think you got a great deal! Straight-run mixed chicks went for $1 each at our local livestock auction last Thursday. More desirable breed chicks, like Copper Marans, $2-$3 each. Those are the lowest prices I’ve seen this year, so the rush is over. Will likely sell cheaper the next couple weeks. Laying hens still averaging $15-$20, roosters $7-$15. More desirable adult birds bringing a couple bucks more. Turkeys and Pea-fowl always bring good money. Guineas $6-$8 for adults, keets (Guinea chicks) $1 each.
Good luck with your score!
