Looking to buy a 2025 gmc work truck . They come with a 2.7L turbomax engine has any body had and good luck with the 2.7L , I won't be hauling and big loads just normal things. So would like the good and bad news about the truck with the small engine. Thanks Larry

I will be 76 next month so who knows. Might be one day or 15 years hoping for the later. Only drive about 8000 miles a year if that helps.

Look at the YouTube reviews you can get a good idea what you’re getting into before you buy. Sometimes they point out major issues sometimes petty stuff but you get a clear picture overall.

Look at the Nissan Frontier they still come with the 3.0 V6 and are a lot less I like mine so far came with more than I expected for the price.

For diesel pickups I like to stick with dodge, unless something comes along that’s too cheap to pass on, for gasoline powered I like Chevy (used to like Toyotas, but even a clapped out rusted through Toyota is $10k anymore)

Thanks for the replys . I have never rode in a Nissan Frontier as we have no dealer close by. So have no idea about what the price would be but I can get the 2025 GMC for about 41,000 out the door at .09 intrest. And can get the double cab for about the same price. Larry

41000 seems cheap to me, I’d probably buy it unless you find out something real bad.

For a new truck you aren’t gonna beat that. I paid $51,000 for my 2016 3500 Laramie in 2019. It’s still worth $51,000 oddly enough

I was going to buy a new Toyota Tundra when a tree fell on my old one and totaled it. I couldn't find any with the 5.7L. In fact I couldn't find a new one with any v-8 in it. Turns out they stopped making them with V-8's in 2021.

I checked out the twin-turbo V-6 and it was impressive on paper. I started to think about all that torque and horsepower crammed into such a small engine and didn't think I could be very durable.

I decided to stick with the tried and tested 5.7L, bought a good used Tundra with low mileage. One owner and lived it's life in Florida so no rust at all. With a little luck, it might be the last truck I buy.

Bottom line, I don't trust the little turbo-charged v-6's.

I think 150s are aluminum body and frame now so no rust issues. I called this spring ans was told a extended cab 1/2 ton 4x4 dodge was 47k and a great deal after the 15k discount they were offering. I told the guy his idea of a good deal and.mine were different. He tried to convince me I was wrong. So I sain 22 years ago I paid 47.5k for a house and 2 acres. It's now worth 140k and bring in monthly income. What's that truck going to be worth in 23 years to express my point on what I consider a good.buy.

Looks like not many people have the 2.7L gmc engine so not much feed back. For a 4 cly. it puts out 310 hp. Thanks Larry

I’m a ford guy but my last 2 trucks have been Chevy 1/2 tons. I’m done with Chevy. The newer one look awesome, but I’m going back to ford. I don’t plan on trading in every 2 years.
At work, with the bigger trucks up to 1 ton it’s the same thing for the last 20 years. The chevys or dodge gassers just don’t stand up.

II was chevy truck owner for many years but have went Ford. Their product is so much more relievable and stand up to wear and tear better. My 2¢

Every truck brand has its quirks. Some people get good ones, some get lemons. If a guy really wants reliability, a pre owned Tacoma is probably the best truck on the road. (Research the years for a good one. There are several).

I've never been a brand loyal guy, I'll buy whatever makes the most sense at the time I'm in the market.
I get a new company truck about every 3 years, and the last eight have all been Chevy's. No major problems with any of them.

Funny how trucks have changed over the years from a work horse to the luxurious ride of today a simple 2 door haul anything to the 4 door never leave the pavement trucks of today. Trying to find a 2 door work truck now not easy when I bought my access cab Tacoma they asked if I wanted the access cab like they misheard me. LOL

The midsize truck of today is the full sized truck of years ago I see nothing midsize of my Tacoma or Frontier really I wish they made the old size Tacomas like before. Let’s see if the Stout ever gets here like they have been saying.

For most folks working out of the back of today’s trucks is not even practical without modifications like slide outs, steps or boxes unless your knuckles scrape the ground when you walk just not designed for work as is.

I’d buy a mini truck if they ever made them again but I’m not holding my breath if they didn’t make it back through all of energy issues we’ve had I doubt I’ll see new ones. Somehow swapping out 35 mpg for 18 mpg will save the world.

Bought my Ranger Lariat new in 2019 and had BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/As put on before I left the dealership. Love that truck!! I do wish they’ed offered a heated steering wheel though that year! LOL

If you have stiff hands the heated steering wheel is a big help on colder days.

My new Tundra has the heated steering wheel and seats. Never thought either was necessary, but man are they nice!

If you get a new one every three years, buy what's the most comfortable. Your warranty will take care of everything else. No need to worry.

The wife’s new Honda CRV has heated seats. That’s the first vehicle I’ve been in that had them. I have to admit, it’s a very nice feature. They heat up very quickly and have three heat levels. On level three you’re turning that thing down or off in about five minutes.

Yes, my Ranger has the 3-level heated/cooled seats but never understood why they left out the heated steering wheel.

I get whatever the company leases. For whatever reason they have all been Chevrolets except the first one, which was a Ford.

I have run Toyota Tacoma for over 30 years and after doing my own research decided to try a Nissan this time. I bought a 2025 Frontier Pro 4X crew cab. I'm waiting for the dealer to finish a couple of add-ons before I can pick it up. At this point I think I chose the best truck for the dollar spent. Only time will tell.

Brother inlaw just bought a new tundra trd. It got to 600 miles and the check engine light came on. Been at the dealership for a week now and they don’t know what’s causing it. I tried to talk him out of a Toyota but he bought one anyway. He’s having second thoughts now. I told him to have the dealership give him his money back. Toyotas suck.

So far I like my 2025 Frontier if I remote start it the heat or A/C will blast full speed depending on the temperature. I'm finding all kinds of surprises on it I did not know about and thousands less than a Tacoma that only comes with a 4 banger now.

The Tundras have been having major issues with their engines.

Maybe 2025 Frontiers are a new generation, but the 2024 Frontiers are near bottom for reliability from Consumer Reports. They all make a few gooduns, and surely all make a few bad ones.

The 2025 had improvements made to addressing past issues from what I’ve seen on YouTube.

I'd think the new Frontier would be a pretty good truck. If'n I was in the market for a smaller truck I'd sure take a look at one.

Not as small as you might think it’s the size of the older F150s at least that’s my take on it I wish it was smaller.

Seldom, how did you swing them putting 10 ply tires on that new truck? I lost a deal on a new truck because of that request...they wouldn't budge.

Interesting. I haven't looked at one close up, just notice them on the road. Saw a red one like yours the other day that drew my eye right to it!

Bought my Tundra 5.7 new in '07, still runs great with 165K. Need to replace the bumpers. How far south does a fella have to travel before he can find used bumpers in good shape? Only problem so far was a crapped out starter all these years.

SIL bought a new Tundra last year. All the bells and whistles. What a nightmare. Toyota just bought it back under lemon law.

SIL bought a new Tundra last year. All the bells and whistles. What a nightmare. Toyota just bought it back under lemon law.

An outfit called Move sells kits to build your own steel bumpers, they’re all pre cut, all you have to do is weld it together and paint it whatever color you want. I have a couple, they come out nice and they cost less than half what I bought my ranch hand for

Big recall on the newer Tundras metal shavings in the motors.

Happy to help. They’re a good bumper and they’re real simple to weld up and install.

I bought my first GMC last year for my daily driver. I have liked it quite a bit. I however screwed up and bought gasoline. It needs premium and it gets pricey to fill up! Wish I would have bought the diesel.

I bought a used 2022 GMC with a regular cab and the 2.7 motor. I've only had it a year but it hasn't had any problems yet at 50,000 miles. I totaled my tundra on a deer and needed a truck. Regular cab trucks are getting hard to find so I opted for this one. I tow my boat, a small trailer and maybe my little tractor once in a while so I wasn't worried about towing a lot. It makes a little less horsepower than the 5.3 and a little more torque from what I could read. Fuel mileage isn't great at around 21 mpg. I don't see where I would regret buying it as long as it doesn't give me a bunch of mechanical problems.

I got the AT4. My fault for not paying attention. I don't always use it....and it runs fine. But I do 80 percent of the time.

The 2.7L has a belt on the BACK of the motor that drives the oil pump. And it does have a scheduled replacement mileage. Yup, most mechanics are questioning why they did that, transmission needs to be removed to replace the belt.

Here's a link to owners comments on trucks they have.

Dang 3togo!.Sounds like "a high dollar manufactured service fee" to me.
Crane is that mileage from a 4X4?

I remember when Obama gave the anti-republican UAW 24+ billion dollars as part of the GM bail-out. Will never again own a GM product d/t that. Doesn't sound like too many people stand by their principles.

About 4 years ago I traded my 2010 Ford F150 with the hated 5.4 3 valve motor (serious oiling problems due to an oil pump that won't produce enough pressure to keep the top end lubed), and bought a used 2017 Nissan Titan Pro 4x.

Best truck I've ever owned out of 7. And 5 were Toyotas. Super comfortable for long trips, V8, no turbo, pretty decent over the road mileage, great handling.

There are still some available at real good prices. I believe this is the last year for the Pro 4 X and the XD models. Current versions have a 9 speed tranny, mine is a 7 speed.

Mileage is from a 4x4. I liked all my Toyotas but I don't even think they make a regular cab anymore.

I lost interest in Toyota when they stopped offering a standard transmission. I realize they’ve all gone that direction, but I really thought Toyota would be the hold out. 2018 was the last year dodge offered one, it’s been a custom order thing from ford and Chevy for awhile now.

To my knowledge Toyota and Jeep are the only ones currently offering a standard transmission in a pickup. Not sure where your info on Toyota came from, but they do still offer a standard transmission. Only in the full four door, not in the extended cab (possibly on special order, but it isn't listed and you aren't going to find an extended cab on a lot with one) but it is offered. I keep thinking I should buy me a new one before they quit making them.

I haven’t specifically inquired about one, but they used to all be a standard transmission, and the last time I was down south I was poking around a dealership, and I stuck my head into 100 different Toyota pickups and didn’t find a 3rd pedal in any of them

I still have my 2015 f150. Aluminum body looks great. 2.7 ecoboost still getting 20mpg around town and 33.5 highway. Have pulled a 20x8 cargo trailer (4k lbs empty) fully loaded from ohio to Arkansas the last couple years. No problems.
Love this truck.

When I bought my Tacoma (2018) the only manual that was offered was in the Sport package not sure about the current models.
