A friend visited tonight with a baby raccoon he is fostering. What a ton of work for just a couple hours. I wouldn’t want this mess…
But how cute is he?

they are cute and sweet tell the hit puberty. Had a momma drop one and run when I popped over a hill I stoped thinking I killed the baby but tires missed it. It was tame and sweet but I saw mom.cross the road with another one about 50 yard down so pit it down knowing how much of a pain they get to be an figured mom would.find it or nature would.handel it.

Just wait a couple months then see what a mess they make and want to eat your face off.

I had a pet coon for many years when I was a kid. Had it neutered as soon as it was old enough, which improved its behavior a lot.

Friend gave me one that had barely opened it's eyes he dragged out of a chimney....we bottle fed it and let it chase minnows in a little round goldfish bowl,,,,we had a Border Collie that this baby loved, would crawl all over him and slept in it's ruff....The dog would just give us the stink eye over it but never hurt it.....once the baby could follow the dog around, one day the dog took it for a walk then legged it home. baby couldn't keep up and we never saw it again, lol

Smartest dog I ever had....bugger could figure stuff out and act on it... grin

Rerun it to the wild where it belongs. Wild animals are not pets.

One night on my way home during High School I found a little coon in the middle of the road all alone. My family had all kinds of pets through the years so I figured I would pick him up. Walked into the house with him to find my Mom had some friends over and everyone was sitting in the kitchen. I walked in with my new-found pet to show him off. When I held him up to show everyone he let loose with a stream of yellow crap all over my Mom's stove.

He went back to the road through the marsh......

I’d never put my pets in jeopardy. That little devil was a lotta work too. He only came by so I could deworm him. I’m glad it was a short visit!

I have a lot of friends who kept raccoons. They don't all turn mean. My friend Ron had one that, while being held, would suddenly reach into Ron's nose and pull out some nose hairs. Ron found it painful. I found it hysterical.

Had one that was enough the thing would hiss and lunge at me when I went to feed it. I’ve been offered pups but passed I’d take 100 skunk before I’d take a coon. That said everyone should have the experience at least once lots of good times were had.

Probably have to use a mink board to stretch that size of coon.

If you are talking to me we can have one of any varmint and most critters here are considered just that. So Jackrabbits, coon, skunk, possum, fox. coyote badgers have no seasons. we can have 1 as a pet.

When we were kids a friend had a "pet" coon....until it got in the kitchen one day and knocked everything out of all the cupboards.
It's name was Cassius, not joking, this was about 1970.
