This year is some of the 17 year brood with a fairly limited area. They start to emerge when the soil temperature reaches approx. 64 F at a depth of 6" to 8".

Our 17 year cicadas are due for a big emergence this spring and summer. We had a very large spike in Mole activity leading up to the last cicada hatch, I havent seen that same effect this time around.

I hear them year round now. I can’t tell when they start up unless someone else lets me know.

Went outside today and found thousands of 1/2” holes in the soil. Not sure if those are exit holes.

They were crawling everywhere yesterday morning while I was turkey hunting. They seem to be very loud this morning while sitting on the deck.
