I'm getting every possible curve ball thrown at me with this one. To recap the sequence of events:
-Coon on roof, seen by client consistently in daylight
-I catch coon in cage trap on ground, see lactating nipples, release coon and she climbs up pine tree, onto roof, and down chimney
-I drop a towel inside a piece of PVC, lightly soaked in the eviction fluid from WCS, get a vocal response (growling), but she does not evict...
-I set a Comstock double door and a Ztrap DP on ground and she robs both, including pulling out the grape grabber puck from below the trigger without setting off DP
-I reset and add a bridger foothold to the formula and end up catching her in that...she has black nipples but is on the smaller side, she is removed
-I go into home and expect to pull babies off smoke ledge, there is no nest or babies. The chimney has two vents and the coons are NOT using the fireplace side, the furnace is vented through PVC out the side of the house so I assume this is a 'blank' chimney with nothing vented thought it??
-Go back today to pull my eviction rag on a string and there's another coon growling!! Heard babies squeaking too.

Someone mentioned in another post about this that they've seen it before where you catch the non target animal, but I used my cell cameras on this situation and this coon that I caught was going in and out of the same chimney. Would two females raise kits that close to each other in the same chimney? Would another female just be living in the chimney with mama and babies as well? I cannot figure anyway to visually or physically access this portion of the chimney. I ordered the Jameson eviction paste and fluid and I'm going to try a 3rd eviction I guess...beyond that my only idea is to wait until the babies start exploring outside the chimney later this summer and then put a one way door up there til they all leave and I can cap it...other than that I'm flat out of ideas....any thoughts are appreciated!!

So here’s the thing with wild animals. They do what they want. Sometimes with very unexpected results. When people ask, will something do XXX, you could say no. There’s then a chance they’ll do that. It’s better to say I’ve never seen them do that, but there’s always a chance they’ll will.

I’ve never seen multiple females in a den, but there’s a chance they’d do that.

My business partner was asked if the raccoon a guys chimney would go down past the damper into his house. He said no. Guess what pried up the damper and went for a stroll that night.

I think Paul W had a chimney that he’d capped thinking the raccoons were gone as there was no activity. Over a month later he was back removing the raccoons from the chimney.

Any animal that starts with an R works extra hard at times to frustrate you.

How long have the pups been there? Will they bite through your gloves? You may need to coni the mother on the chimney now.

I wonder if you could open the damper an inch and throw a flare or some fire crackers up there on a stick. The light/noise might get her to move.

What was the time frame between looking for the pups and pulling the rag?
It's always possible that another sow moved her pups into that same chimney, once the first was gone.
Weird things happen with coon jobs.
I had a coon with pups in an attic, got them out. One week later another coon was in the chimney on same house. Maybe it was there all along, but I didn't notice.
Had another double flu chimney, a sow with pups on the smoke shelf in fireplace, got them out. Two weeks later 3 males (brothers?) got into the other flu.

This past week had a call for bats in a chimney that turned out to be a coon with pups. From initial call to getting there, she had moved her pups to a second chimney on the opposite end of house. Not quite prepared for coons, I made do with what I had on the truck.
A 160 in a bucket fit perfectly over the 12x12 flu, with rebar holding it in place. She got quite a ways through before tripping it.

It was a straight shot down the chimney, and a very small fireplace inside. I rigged up my pup grabber, and pulled 4 pups out from above.

No two coon jobs are the same it seems.

I’d be happy with coni the mom and hand remove babies but I can’t even make visual contact w nest site, let alone access it. I had to wait a few days in between events because I didn’t already own the comstock etc…so a new mother with kits moving in is a possibility for sure. I still have a working camera on the roof so I should get some info in the coming days as to what’s really going on…

Had an attic job once with two different litters of coons took me two weeks to finalize the job.
This was before the eviction fund came on the scene.
