A break in the weather and picked up some adjoining permissions my buddy got this bird in an old corn field next to where we’ve been hunting. I could have shot it last week but I just got permission on that side of the fence a couple days ago. In fact the guy allowed us access next to 2 locations we were hunting on. I got my bird at the other location and this bird at the other spot.

Worse hunting weather we have had in years with endless wind, rain and cool days snow in the Black Hills this week in the high country. The morning birds refused to go into the taller wet grass we got soaked just setting up knee high grass. They hung on the shaded side of the draw where it had less undergrowth. The other guys could have got their birds after I flushed them shooting mine but never got shots.

Persistence pays off. Lessons learned the hard way.

Great work and great birds.

Got my second bird today a little over 21 pounds 9 inch and 1 inch double beard looked to be a 3 year old. Now we have until the end of the month to get 2 birds for my buddy. He had a crack at a yote today but never pulled the trigger I just stood there watching thinking he had it covered.
