If you want to read a story of bravery and persistence, horror and fear, look up the story of the USS Laffey.

This is a story to give us pause as to why we have Memorial Day. A day to honor fallen soldiers and families.

I cannot imagine the scars.

How many lies will people believe before they realize their own idiocy?

There were two destroyers named USS Laffey. DD-459 and DD-724

Both saw action in WWII, DD-459 was sunk after taking on two Japanese battleships and two destroyers.

DD-724 is the more famous destroyer that survived a huge Kamikaze attack.

Eh...wot?

My wife and I toured it yesterday along with the Yorktown. We're sitting at the airport in Charleston right now to head back to Wisconsin. We spent about an hour just touring the Laffey. It's a heck of a story and some great history.
