I have significant hearing loss and tinnitus to boot. I can mostly tune out the constant, high-pitched, whining in my ears, unless I’m thinking about it…like now.

A lifetime of construction and shooting, lots of which was done before I understood the importance of hearing protection. I now do my best to preserve what little I have left.

I often hunt spring turkey with a young friend who has excellent hearing. He’s always letting me know about distant gobbling I can’t hear. Sometimes he’ll whisper to me about hearing turkeys walking in the leaves which I also can’t hear.

My wife is well aware of my hearing loss so she’s never certain if I’m just ignoring her or if I really didn’t hear her. grin

Eh...wot?

Yes the price of aids is ridiculous my wife got her first set at Costco $2,000 her last set was over $5000 but they do a lot of Bluetooth stuff with her phone and iPad.

As every new generation comes along, they seem to be more and more stupid.
As I get older, my hearing will surely fade.
If the timing is right, I hope to be completely deaf at the same time that the dumbest generation arrives.

Yea that is what bothers me the most currently. I think I can hear everything else pretty well, but maybe I am missing things and just dont realize I am missing them. LOL I know if it is noisy area with lots of people talking I am going to struggle picking out an individual voice.

Does anyone have cochlear implants? I'm thinking of one for my bad ear. My good ear isn't great either. Hearing aids help but still miss a lot.
