It is fairly easy to build a suppressor to quiet down the report. It takes some precision equipment to make them so that your rifle will be accurate.
Nevertheless less, I do agree with you that prices will come down, mostly because anyone with machining equipment will jump into the new unregulated market and flood it with affordable suppressors.

I suspect most suppressor manufacturers will be happy to see them deregulated. Yes prices will come down and there will be more competition. But offseting that, there will be a LOT more people buying them, a smaller market share of a much larger market still equals more money coming in. And there will be much less paperwork for them also, which will lower overhead simply by reducing the manhours required to fill it out and file it.

It is sounding like , if this happens they would still be regulated as firearms , and you would fill out a 4473 like you would for a rifle and it would probably just get marked "other" on the form so it would still take an FFL. just not NFA

the concern is as states above by someone , that this is a play to keep gun folks approving but might also be the thing they let get cut.
time will tell.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Hope they come down in price but thinking it will only be the tax stamp plus’s a little. Moderators for air rifles are an over the counter purchase and they are still a close to a couple hundred bucks. Then there is what to do with solvent traps? Could you then drill them out legally? Or is that going to be an illegal suppressor?

western Wildlife Services.

If they are no on the NFA you don't need approval to make your own. It's legal to make your own guns for personal use. You only need a SOT if you are in the business. buying, selling., manufacturing.
