Swamp Wolf OP trapper Joined: Apr 2009 South Ga - Almost Florida	Ive never been up in that part of the country. Most of the Civil War battles occurred up that way. May make it a historical trip. Never been to DC either. Would like to see those buildings. Gettysburg and/or DC is about 2 hrs north/northwest. I'll likely never have another reason to go up that way. elkaholic trapper E Joined: Dec 2006 PA	You'll be about 2.5 hours from Gettysburg. The bad part about Gettysburg is you'll need about 3 or 4 days to see it. About an hour or so South of Gettysburg is Antietam. Millions of trees die every year to print environmentalist publications

Cross Keys and Port Republic battlefields are just a few minutes away as well - not as "developed" as the New Market site, both do have parking areas and walking paths with marker plaques. Seems a good Confederate General, Turner Ashby, was killed at Harrisonburg. I'll do some reading on the other local sites. I've been to two Lima, Ohio NTAs and one in Springfield, MO.
