I’ve never gotten calls for rabbits until this year. Never trapped them. How do you guys go about it using cage traps? I assume it’s difficult to bait a vegetarian animal into a trap when the whole yard is food to them…

WCS had rabbit bait and lure, I’ve never tried it. Non targets would probably be caught too?

Thanks for input

Most cage trapping will catch some non targets even when you are forced set trapping.

I always caught some opossums when working rabbit traps even using so called target specific lure and baits. All animals are curious and opportunists.

Add a new presentation and odor they will investigate it. I have caught some jumbo opossums and a few coon in our wooden box traps. So big they could hardly fit inside and not a chance for them to turn around in the trap.

I used salted apple slices in a live trap this winter and got rid of the rabbits eating our raspberry bushes. Worked great.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Set the box traps/cages with a cover to offer protection from above/sides, leave the back open. Stake the cage to prevent a predator/neighbors cat/dog from rolling the cage.

I set the travel ways and put cover over the trap and some grass on the bottom. Look for their trails or entry and exits points and set those- like a ground hog but smaller trails. Use double door traps.

Just passin through
