We've had Cuckoo Marans in the past. They are good layers and make good chicken soup after they stop laying.
Eh...wot?

I'm thinking there's not much difference in the various types of marans. They are probably all good layers and good to eat.

As a fly tier I'd sure like to have the pelt off that bird! Sure is pretty.

I currently have 10 each black sexlink, red sexlink, and cinnamon queen, they just turned 2 months old.
They are replacing my 16 hens that are a mix of cinnamon queen and rhoad island red that are 2 year olds. I’m still getting 10-14 eggs daily but it is time to reload.

That's how we do it Crappiekiller. We get new chicks every other year in the spring. When they start laying, usually in September or October, we butcher the old birds.
Eh...wot?
