Ha, ha, I can beat that one; but unlike you, I didn't get caught.

Back in the early 80's when I was gillnetting in Washington I set out my gill net, 300 fathoms long (1800 feet) at about 11 PM. I was west and a little north of Lummi Island. It was a nice calm night, so I thought I'd take a little nap. The next thing I know the sun was beating down into the wheelhouse, I jump up in a panic, flew out the door and out onto the back deck of the boat to get my bearings. The first thing I noticed was all the sport fishing boats around me, it was then that I realized that I was about a mile off Saturna Island, I was more than three miles into Canadian waters.

I started reeling the net up onto the drum like a mad man; fish and all, lucky for me there wasn't a whole lot of fish. At full throttle I made a beeline back to US waters. I don't know if I've ever felt such a sense of relief as when I was safely back across the line.

Wow, I just noticed that my next post will be my 10,000th.

LOL.....you was some lucky

When I lived in central Iowa I used to go up to Lake Wenasaga not far from Ear Falls in Ontario.
A friend has a cabin on the lake, no road going to it, gotta boat into it.
Great walleye and northern fishing.

WOW am I the only one who liked Quebec. We drove the first time 23 hours from here to get to Chibougamau. Stayed at Val Levesque cabins. have been there maybe 75 times 2 or 3 times a year. But we drove with only one stop at a restaurant in Louisville for half a chicken french fries with gravy a side dish and apply pie for $12.50, year after year the same. Was stuck there for two days when they had a flood, that was a good time too. Have not gone up that route in 25? years. the last dozen or so trips when through Ottawa---always glad to clear that place. Oh the last trip was 15 1/2 hours due to new roads. Would like to go again but all my friends are passed that used to go......jk

I have hunted waterfowl in Manitoba and we go fishing in northern Ontario every summer. Going this year as well.

Heading up to Ignace Ontario next week for a fishing trip. The guy we go with has been going to the same place for a couple decades at least, I've been there half dozen times myself. I'm always impressed how easy it is to catch fish up there. A guy can park his boat on a rock pile midday under bluebird skies and pull walleye after walleye until he runs out of bait or ambition. Looking forward to it!
