Most of you know that the past few years was pretty rough for me health wise..I didn’t think I would ever be able to do anything again.. severe depression because of it..I’ve worked my whole life and just like that.. life changed in an instant. I had a good friend who helped pull me out of my depression… he hired me to do small things around his properties, using the tractor to maintain food plots and deer habitat,.. small engine repair, etc,, kinda like property management stuff…. It helped me greatly… I eventually gained my strength back.. without ANY SURGERY.. I was told I would need extensive surgery in my neck and spine and that I would be limited the rest of my life. I will, for the rest of my days here on earth, give glory to ALMIGHTY GOD,, because he healed me..I should not be doing what I’m doing.
I have an interview tomorrow at a local meat market… I have meat cutting skills that I learned when I was a kid when I was hired at 17…I’ve been cutting my own deer and wild game for a long time. It’s kinda odd I guess,,, because I’m 54 years old and potentially starting somewhere else… I’m an old man, but not an old man ( if you guys catch my drift) anyway, pray for me fellas.. not sure if this is were the LORD is taking me..but hopefully it is and I do well here
Stand by your principles, Stand by your guns, and victory complete and permanent is sure at last. Abraham Lincoln

Keeping active is the best medication for depression I figure, good on your buddy getting you moving. Not sure about your medical stuff, but some health issues can be corrected by your brain telling yourself you’re good to go…..keeping positive……all mental. I got a buddy that’s 3 months older than me that walks around with a cane, all he does is sit at a computer for work, sit in a car while he drives, or on the couch watching TV. He’s a friggin mess. We took him on the trapline a few years ago. After an hour on the back of the sleigh on the skids, he moved over to the big 8’ bait/catch sleigh to lay in for the rest of the ride with a wolf and 3 skinned and gutted frozen bait beaver….lol Here’s Shmitz all bundled up wearing my big arc flash goggles from work the weekend he came with us……lol Good luck!

Go getter , you probably have 3X the work ethic the have seen in a candidate lately. I very much understand the old not old I am 46 , not old but when you are hobbling around on a bad foot diabetic ulcer or dealing with blood clots , or other ailments you can sure feel old in a hurry. my wife also 46 , not old is feeling it as well , terminal cancer more tired with each passing month she gave in and is using the electric cart at the grocery store , she realized she missed going , I was taking care of it all , now she is zipping around the store which does not help my grocery bill but I can't complain and can afford some more groceries than we really need, if she wants nice ice cream she can have nice ice cream , she can walk fine but if she walks half the grocery store it will be all she does all day and sleep the rest of the day so the cart makes sense.
even just standing around wipes her out , so I got her a wheel chair so she can go the places she wants I just push her so she can do more than one place.
next week I am taking her fishing , she needs to get to her chair in the boat from the truck which should be no problem.
good luck on the interview , glad to hear you are doing better.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

That’s my theory as well. There’s a guy I work with who’s 64 and still cutting timber everyday. He’s gotten slower over the years (I’ve known him since I was in my late teens) but he still does a good job. And he seems to be fairly spry for his age lol
