I plan on being there at the rendezvous. If you wander down the main concourse, you need to stop and say Hi. I am a wood carver and purveyor of treenware ( known as the spoon man ). Thanks GCP, we will try to make it to Pete's. My wife and I were at the first reenacted rendezvous that was held by the Villa Louis about 50 years ago. That was shining times.

I thought that was the one south of STL on IL side. Not had that kid of fun in 30 years.

Prairie is an intersting town. If you go to Pete's you need to also go to Stark's across the street. One of the only places I know with guns and liquor in same isle. There is Cabelas on edge of town if your into that. Also as close as you can get to old style fish market. It's not far from roudy grounds.

Be prepared for a LOT of JUNK! But once you wade through that its worth the trip.

Hey Mac, I'm sure you're talking about Valley fish and cheese for the fish market. He closed down the end of December and the buildings for rent. Pete's burger stand is pretty popular as is Starks across the street. I don't go into Cabela's too often. It's over priced in my opinion unless they've got something on sale.

I live in PDC so I may wander down to the rendezvous to see what's there. Quite often I just seem to look and not buy much. I will agree there's quite a bit of junk but there's some cool stuff as well.

yup carp jerky , I smoked buffalo and a bunch of other fish at the fish market
Shame he closed down but maybe he was ready to retire , lot of that happening.

lots in WI in the same store , the same isle maybe not as much.

as for gas , guns and liquor , Bever dam had Holiday gas stations with guns , gas , and liquor it was close to the same isle

there was a place just north of Pardeeville WI that had guns , bait , boats and booze

the Piggly wiggly / ace hardware in Crivitz WI has it all under one roof a full Piggly wiggly store a full ace hardware just past frozen foods , with guns , bait, ammo , bow hunting gear , I think they even had a pharmacy.
the chainsaws and beer were adjacent Isles

that fish market was valley fish and cheese. very odd stuff in there but good stuff. a friend started up a market similar to it just across the river. said valley was gonna close.
