And why? Costco or Sam's. Reason for the question. It's time for me to renew my membership. I'm currently a member of Sam's. But since costco seems to focus more( I was told) on the food market and only buys about 7% of their goods from overseas. I'd like to have a different variety and support local and us products. So, what are your opinions and experiences. Thanks Sarge

Costco
I am not even a member my kids are , my parents are , my brother is.
Sams has a few of their own brands , Costco has their store brand that they have a ton of stuff made for , often it is a brand name maker making for their label , Kirkland as in Kirkland Washington
around here Sams never had gas stations , Costco has the best fuel price around to the point they bring down the price of gas for a few miles around them.
tire deals , and watch the oil deals getting full synthetic shipped to my house for 12 dollars a 5 quart jug last time I got some.
check into membership deals , my daughter is a teacher so she gets 1/2 price membership
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

GC, yep hearing good things about costco. Plus I will check on the membership. I'm sure they offer a veterans membership and or a business. I will see which one is the better offer.

Which one is most convenient?
30 miles to either one for me. Have been a member of both at different times. The Costco location was the least convenient and I rarely was going in that direction and did not use it much so I went with Sam's Club. Still not as convenient as close by would be but I am going that way more often so utilize it more. Sam's gas is definitely the lowest price around by quite a bit even if their operating system and pumps are slow as molasses in January. Always a line but at least 20 cents a gallon cheaper than the local average. And you still have to watch what you buy at both of them. Their bulk pricing is not always the best deal. Aldi or Food Lion beat their prices an a lot of items and you do not have to buy a pack of 3 or 5 to get the better price.

I'm belong to both. I like them both. Some stuff is basically the same, but both have things the other doesn't also. Sams Club has deals all the time that basically make joining free. So that's worth it to me for the couple things we get there. Costco does the cash back thing on top of some great prices, so by us buying some staples there like gas, TP, paper towels, garbage bags, laundry soap, coffee, batteries, vitamins, meds, etc we make our $130 back Plus Costco is 3 miles from my house and 1 mile from my work so it is super convenient for even normal groceries. Gotten some bigger stuff through Costco too, like car tires, refrigerator, TV, washer, all great deals. As I type this, gas is $0.17 cheaper at Costco than the station down the road. Just last week scored a bottle of Eagle Rare and a Blantons for the state min price too!

Costco membership is $5 more, but now the Costco's are expanding the number of store so they are more convenient for e now. Been meaning to check out the Costco nearest me. Mostly of late, I've been buying the cheapest gas around there, But Sam's went and just renewed my membership on my CC without asking, and I had to really raise crap with them.

Thanks for all the input. Both are 40 miles one way for me. Have to do my 4 -5 month stock up here soon. So, we'll see who gets my business. Usually spend 700-1000 at a time. So, they love seeing me roll up with an overloaded chart.
