interesting guy for sure. It all started because he was snubbed at the king ranch after mounting a bunch of quail for them. Hard to say if he is full of dookie or has a really good memory. He tells his stories with great detail. But even if only 1/4 of what he says is true, its worth a listen. Quit poaching and found Jesus.....Until the state of TX screwed him over in his divorce, then he went back to snatching horns again. Most of it was on the Kennedy Ranch. Had too many close calls on the King. His methods to avoid detection were genius.

Check out his first two podcast with Hunters Advantage. First one he does over the phone and is hard to listen to until your ear adjusts. But he gives a better back story than in the others.

I figured he was your kinfolk.. I'm sure KeithC knows him. Lol

Oh yeah, Beaty is the real deal. Anyone that listens to his first part that knows how things work, knows good and well he's spitting truth. I just got done driving by the CR that ran east off HWY 77 where he worked.

I got a second cousin that knows some folks that know some folks, that say they know him, and that they got a buddy that says he's legite.

If one listens to that first Beaty episode, he explains why the Kennedy Ranch was more conducive to his tactics rather than the King Ranch. The King Ranch is cow country, lots of grass and scattered trees. Just south of there is the Kennedy and it is a very unique ecosystem. Deep, deep sand and dunes that have nearly complete canopy cover by live oak trees. Canopy cover in this area is over 90% which means you can't see the ground from the air.

Beaty talks about having access to the Kennedy Ranch via a half section property he had an in on. Oil field roads lead to it, and then, have to go past several other properties just to get to the area, but it is legite and backs right up next to the enormous Kennedy Ranch that pretty much surrounds the entire area, but they don't own that one half section.

Word is, from what they told me at the camp house, is that the Grampa of the bunch back in the day was having a card game with one of the Kennedy's at the Bar. He called his bluff and won and that half section went to him and still remains in his family. Lots of family squabbling and such since then, but they still own it, and if one has the key, they can get access right into one of the coolest ranches and places in Texas.......just got to cross the fence.

My brother told me about him. His stories are incredible, could listen to him all day. Anyone on here met him ? Savell, you need to get permission to trap on those ranches.

Most of those bucks don't look like true trophies to me. What was he going for? The sick thrill of the kill just to get away with it?

… to speak about the size …. Those were wild native deer …. Before all the animal husbandry type stuff you see now… they were big for that time

… he claims he did it for the adventure….and a disdain for hunting becoming a rich man’s only activity

…says he spent couple years doing taxidermy trying to get an invite and it never came so he just went in on his own lol

Morally, it seems wrong. But, at the same time, I get it.

Cool story !

I always enjoyed listening to his stories. He had to be tuff to spend as long as he did out on those hunts in January and February.

Never had much respect for a habitual poacher especially one that's doing it for the heads and the joy of killing. Worse type of trophy worship there is. Guy had no respect for property rights, game laws, the animals he killed in large numbers just for the racks or ethics of hunting. I'm guessing some people that think he's sone kind of dark ops/special forces/guerilla warfare/ survivalist have never been camping for a week before? What did the dude ever do that was admirable, something you want ur kids to do or be when they grow up?
Doesn't take much of an excuse for people to forget the importance of morals and values but maybe those things aren't important to some.

Yes Sir,
I like your posts and certainly respect your take on things. I have a lot of respect for you.

Morals and values went out the door in Texas 40 years ago when WTD hunting became a pay to play game. It's the same old BS, they try to divide us and keep us arguing and bickering with the folks in our own state of fortune rather than realizing that their is someone up the higher social ladder that is laughing at us bicker and fight with one another. Started in Texas, and has now moved into your neck of the woods and even into the Midwest.

One side, the Wildlife Management/State Agency side is 100% against the private landowner rights/animal husbandry side. The wildlife side says that they have to protect the resource of WTD; as they are a game animal and it is their duty. The animal husbandry/deer breeder side says, no......Its a property rights issue and I should own the deer and consider them livestock. Neither of them can do much in legislature without the public's support so they bicker, send things to sign, etc. etc.

All the while, when they are totally the same thing. They are the rich landowners and neither of the sides will allow you to hunt unless it is for publicity; OR unless one can pay ALOT of $ for "access". Whole thing is a racket. Makes me sick. Mind you, many of these places are thousands and 10 thousands of acres and have more deer to kill than anyone one of them can eat.

As far as Beaty goes, he was a real BA. He snuck into the biggest, baddest, ranches in Texas before all this happened; places, that had their own private enforcement. He was killing trophies and rattling in bucks, snort wheezing, long before there was ever pay to play across the state. Would I want my daughter to marry him; certainly not. Was he morally and ethically correct; certainly not. But that don't negate the fact that he was a hunting SOB.
